The 41st PEC Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (VCC) meeting held on June 4, 2020, under the Chairmanship of Chairman PEC through Zoom Video link. The meeting was attended by 22 Vice Chancellors of various universities offering engineering programs including Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Convener of Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) and Vice Chairman PEC (Punjab).

i. The main agenda of the meeting was to revise the existing PEC Policy Guidelines on Assessment and Examination to provide complete assessment mechanism for cognitive and psychomotive domains with emphasis to ensure facilitation to final semester students who are graduating soon, enabling them to pursue their academic/ career growth further.

ii. It was principally agreed that students will not be promoted to next semester without assessment in-line with international practices. As far as the assessment of cognitive domain is concerned, the online examination will be conducted for students of all semesters through a specialized assessment mechanism approved by HEI. For psychomotor domain, the assessment for the remaining labs of final semester (graduating batch) is allowed to be conducted through simulation software / virtually or video-demonstrations, whereas for other remaining years Grade (“I”) may be assigned to students and may be promoted to next semester with no impact on CGPA/grades, which shall be later on included after its physical accelerated teaching & assessment.

iii. It was also decided that admission for engineering programs (Fall-2020) will be carried out based on the Entry Test as per PEC Regulations. The HEIs should share suitable mechanism to conduct virtual Entry Test which will be finalized in next meeting of VCC within June, 2020.
