Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson PHEC, addressed the concluding ceremony of the two-day Capacity Development Training Program on “Procurement Management” organized by the Punjab Higher Education Commission from January 30–31, 2023, at 3rd Floor, Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore. More than 70 professionals from public sector universities across Punjab including treasurer/ head finance department, director/ incharge of procurement department and resident auditor of the university participated in the training program. The training aimed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively and efficiently manage the procurement process, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and compliance with the laws and regulations governing procurement in Pakistan. The training covered a range of topics including understanding legal and regulatory requirements, developing effective tender documents, advertising tenders, evaluating bids, and awarding contracts. Additionally, participants learned about the selection of suppliers, negotiation strategies, and contract management.
Addressing on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson PHEC said, ‘’for consistent performance, continued development of professional competencies are exigent. The aim of the PHEC is to improve governance and ease processes at universities. By providing training and development opportunities to Treasurers, Directors of Procurement, and Resident Auditors, the PHEC aims to ensure that these individuals have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage the procurement process.” Participants of the training appreciated the PHEC efforts. Certificates were distributed among the participants.
