Honorable Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, Minister for Higher Education, Punjab concluded the One-Day Continuing Professional Development Program for the Directors ORIC of Universities in Punjab organized by Punjab Higher Education Commission today at the University of Punjab. The Minister for Higher Education congratulated the PHEC for taking the initiative regarding the Capacity Building of ORIC departments of universities and stressed that universities should improve the research and development culture and commercialize research products at the national as well as international level. He further said that PHEC should take more initiatives for the promotion of quality education in the province.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson PHEC, thanked the Honorable Minister for gracing the ceremony. Addressing the participants, Chairperson PHEC said that the program is aimed at improving essential knowledge and skills regarding innovation and technology transfer, industrial collaboration, and commercialization of the novel ideas and technology output of the university on both national and international platforms. He also said that participants should implement the learned tools and improve research and development as per the market and industrial needs. In this backdrop, PHEC has taken various initiatives to strengthen the higher education sector with limited resources in the province. He said that PHEC has also planned to launch various programs i.e PHEC Innovation Expo, international students’ cultural day, faculty development programs, and acknowledge the ranking of universities.

In the end, certificates were distributed among the training participants. Mr. Naeem Ghaus, Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Baluch, COO, PHEC, and officials and officers from PHEC also participated in the closing ceremony.
