Lahore: August 14 is the day of renewal of the pledge of allegiance to Pakistan for us. This day reminds us that our elders got this homeland after countless sacrifices. This was said by Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir while attending an elegant flag-hoisting ceremony, in connection with the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Pakistan Independence Day today at Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore. The national flag was raised to the tune of the national anthem. Senior officers and staff of the PHEC were present on occasion.

Extending warm felicitations on Pakistan Independence day, going to be celebrated on 14th August, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir paid rich tributes to the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other national leaders of the Pakistan movement, who with their unswerving resolve and relentless efforts created a separate homeland for the Muslims of Sub-Continent.

He said that during independence, many families were separated from each other but there was a feeling that they would live their lives in a free country. He emphasized that we all have to realize the sacrifices of our elders and work with the same spirit for the country’s development.
