The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) host the book launching ceremony of “Towards a Knowledge Economy – National Innovation and Technology System of Pakistan” at Punjab HEC. The event was graced by the presence of the Caretaker Minister for Health, Punjab, Dr. Javed Akram, as the chief guest.
Authored by Shahid Najam, Vice Chairman of BIPP, along with the collaborative efforts of Athar Mansoor and Rehmat Ullah, the book explores the critical facets of Pakistan’s journey towards establishing a robust knowledge economy. It delves into the intricacies of the National Innovation and Technology System, shedding light on the key elements that contribute to the nation’s progress in the realms of innovation and technology.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), lauded the book as a perceptive and thought-provoking work that addresses the pivotal role of innovation in shaping economic growth and prosperity.
Dr. Shahid Munir expressed his appreciation for the authors’ insightful exploration of the rise of nations such as China, Japan, and Singapore, attributing their success to the strategic harnessing of science, technology, and innovation. Drawing inspiration from successful models like the South Korean Innovation and Technology System, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Import-driven Technology Diffusion, the authors provide valuable insights into building a robust innovation system.
The Chairperson emphasized the book’s significance in advocating for collaboration between the higher education system, government, and the private sector to foster innovation.
