Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission’s address as Chief Guest at the 8th International Business Conference at the University of Central Punjab. Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir has said that Pakistan is suffering from climate change, America, China, and India are responsible for environmental destruction. Economic development is not possible without peace, Pakistan is trying to build peaceful and friendly relations with neighbouring countries. He said that there is a need for a regional trade alliance to face economic challenges. Reforms in governance, empowerment of local governments will have to be done. PHEC provides funding program grants to promote research activities. PHEC will greatly support researchers exploring new frontiers of knowledge.
To foster a research environment in universities, Punjab HEC will provide more scholarships to students and researchers. He stressed the urgent need to fully utilize the potential of local coal, gas, solar energy, shale oil and gas, and wind energy to meet the growing demand for affordable electricity. Pakistan pays 17 billion dollars for imported oil and gas. More than 40 research papers were presented in the conference. Australia’s Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Dr. Nasar Akram Pro-rector UCP, Dr. Muhammad Athar Siddiqui Asim Saleem, Kanwal Cheema, Dr. Hadiya Awan also addressed the conference.
